On behalf of the organising committee and our sponsors it is a pleasure to invite you to the First International Symposium on Grapevine Roots to be held on 16th and 17th of October, 2014 in Rauscedo, Italy.
This Symposium has as main goal to bring together for the first time the experience of scientists from different disciplines (vine physiology, molecular biology, pathology, etc..) whose research focuses on grapevine roots, with the aim of enabling a more comprehensive and detailed knowledge on this important field. Topics will included rootstocks, rootstock breeding, root genetics, root interactions with natural factors and agronomic practices, root diseases, roots and mineral nutrition, methods for root study.
The symposium will be hosted in Rauscedo, by Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo, one of the main and renowned vine nurseries in the world. The hosting city is located in Friuli region, close to Venice and Trieste. Friuli is one of the most important viticulture regions of Italy, famous for the cultivation of traditional autochthonous varieties, like Refosco and Tocai friulano, and for international varieties.
Two tours will be organized during the symposium to provide an opportunity for delegates to learn more about the symposium topics and to know the regional viticulture and wines.
We welcome researchers, students, viticulturists and professionals in the vine industry to attend the conference and exchange their studies and experiences in the field of vine roots.
